B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Content focus:

  • Formal education:
    • Takes place in schools with teachers and a curriculum.
    • Examples: Reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and other subjects.
    • Emphasize routines like attending classes, doing homework, and following school rules.
  • Informal education:
    • Learning life skills at home, such as cooking, cleaning, helping siblings, or farming.
    • Explain that this happens naturally during daily activities and helps learners become responsible.
  • Non-formal education:
    • Learning outside traditional schools, such as adult classes, community workshops, clubs, or sports teams.
    • Examples: Literacy programs, skill training, or environmental clubs.
  • Benefits of education:
    • For individuals: Knowledge, skills, problem-solving, confidence, and better opportunities.
    • For communities: Skilled people, safer neighborhoods, improved health, and stronger social connections.

Teaching strategies & aids:

  • Use pictures, charts, or flashcards showing learners at school, at home, or in a workshop.
  • Share real-life examples from the learners’ community.
  • Encourage class discussion on what they have learned in school, at home, or in community activities.
