Assessment Checks

✅ Synonyms & Antonyms:

  • Are learners correctly matching synonyms and antonyms?
  • Can learners explain why two words are opposites or have similar meanings?

✅ Compound Noun Formation:

  • Can learners accurately form compound nouns from given word pairs?
  • Do learners understand the meaning of the new noun?

✅ Usage in Sentences:

  • Do learners use vocabulary correctly in oral and written sentences?
  • Are sentences grammatically complete and meaningful?

Notes (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Synonyms are useful in writing to avoid repeating the same word too often. Teach learners that synonyms can have slight differences in meaning. For example, tiny and small are similar but not always used the same way.
  • Antonyms help learners describe opposites in stories and factual writing. Encourage learners to find antonyms in daily conversations.
  • Compound nouns enrich vocabulary and reading fluency. Explain that not all word combinations make compound nouns (e.g., apple + dog is not meaningful). Use pictures and real objects to demonstrate compound words.
