Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Activity: The teacher will ask the class:
• What do you do in the kitchen, bedroom, or bathroom?
• Can you make a sentence using a room and a verb?

Learner’s Role:
• Answer orally, recall verbs and rooms

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Role (Expanded & Detailed)
Guide learners in combining previously learned vocabulary (rooms of the house) and verbs into complete, meaningful sentences. Begin by modeling sentences such as “Je mange dans la cuisine” (I eat in the kitchen) and “Nous dormons dans la chambre” (We sleep in the bedroom). Emphasize the use of prepositions like dans (in) to link actions to locations.

Demonstrate how to build sentences step-by-step: first the subject pronoun (je, tu, il/elle, nous, vous, ils/elles), then the conjugated verb, followed by the preposition and the room vocabulary. Use visual aids, like sentence strips or picture cards, to illustrate the structure.

Provide oral and written practice exercises: call on learners to create sentences aloud, then write sentences on the board and in their notebooks. Encourage them to describe daily routines around the house, using a variety of subjects and verbs to increase sentence complexity.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Form sentences orally using the verbs and rooms learned, focusing on correct structure and pronunciation.
  • Repeat sentences aloud after the teacher to practice fluency.
  • Write short paragraphs describing typical routines in their houses, using multiple sentences with varied subjects and verbs.
  • Work in pairs to share and practice sentence formation and paragraph reading.

Assessment Checks

  • Observe the learners as they form sentences and write paragraphs, noting correct grammar, verb conjugation, spelling, and preposition use.
  • Ask learners to read their sentences aloud to check pronunciation and fluency.
  • Provide corrective feedback where necessary to reinforce learning points.

Peer Review

  • Learners exchange written sentences or paragraphs with a partner.
  • Partners check for correct sentence structure, spelling, verb conjugation, and use of prepositions.
  • Encourage constructive feedback and discussion to improve understanding.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Encourage learners to be creative by adding details to their sentences or paragraphs, such as times of day or who is performing the action.
  • Reinforce the importance of using the correct preposition “dans” to specify location within the house.
  • Use positive reinforcement to motivate learners and build confidence in sentence construction.

Assignment (Homework)

  • Write 5–6 sentences describing your daily routine at home, focusing on what activities you do and where you do them (e.g., “Je mange dans la cuisine,” “Je dors dans la chambre”).
  • Encourage neat handwriting, correct spelling, and proper sentence structure.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Evaluation Method:
• Exit slip/quiz: Write 2 sentences combining a room and a verb
• Follow-up Activity: Oral sharing

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies:
• Provide sentence frames for learners needing extra support
