Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher shows two sets of classroom objects and asks which has more.
B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Teacher defines universal set as the largest set that contains all elements under consideration. Example: U = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10}.
Teacher defines subset as part of the universal set. Example: A = {2,4,6,8}.
Teacher compares sets using >, <, = based on the number of elements. Example: If A = {1,2,3}, B = {4,5}, then A > B because A has 3 elements while B has 2.
Learners’ Activities (Expanded):
Learners draw universal sets and subsets.
Learners compare sets using symbols.
Learners connect set comparison with fraction comparison (½ < ¾).
Assessment Checks:
Is A = {1,2,3} a subset of U = {1,2,3,4,5}? Compare A and B if A = {1,2,3}, B = {4,5}.

Universal set contains everything we are considering. Subsets are smaller sets inside. Comparison symbols can be used to compare the size (cardinality) of sets.

Exit slip: Draw a universal set of numbers from 1–10 and form two subsets. Compare them using >, <, =.
