Ask learners: “What do you notice is similar or different in church and mosque services?”

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Content/Explanation:

  • Discuss similarities between Christian and Muslim services:
    • Both involve communal gathering for worship.
    • Both include prayer and reflection.
    • Both provide teaching and guidance from scriptures.
  • Discuss differences:
    • Rituals (e.g., sacraments in churches vs. Salah in mosques).
    • Scripture reading (Bible vs. Quran).
    • Prayer postures (standing, bowing, prostrating).
    • Music and singing (hymns and choir vs. recitation of Quran).
  • Facilitate a group discussion on how participating in services strengthens faith, teaches moral values, and builds community bonds.
  • Conduct a drawing or writing activity: learners illustrate or write about “My experience or understanding of religious services”, reflecting on similarities, differences, and personal insights.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Participate in discussion comparing Christian and Muslim services.
  • Draw or write their understanding, including elements of worship they have learned.
  • Share observations and reflections with the class, explaining similarities and differences.
  • Reflect on how participation in services or observing them can influence moral behavior and respect for others.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to identify at least one similarity and one difference between services.
  • Observe participation in discussion for understanding of key concepts.
  • Review drawings and writings for comprehension, accuracy, and reflection of learning.
