Storytelling props, charts showing human life stages, drawing/writing materials

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to name different stages of human life and discuss what happens as people age

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Introduce the concept of human mortality in an age-appropriate, sensitive manner. Explain that all humans are born, grow, live, and eventually die. Use simple storytelling, incorporating biblical examples (e.g., Adam and Eve, King David) or historical figures familiar to children, highlighting that everyone experiences the life cycle. Discuss that death is a natural part of life and can have emotional and spiritual aspects, such as feeling sadness or remembering loved ones. Reinforce that life is precious and should be valued.

Engage learners in reflective activities:

  • Drawing: illustrate human life stages from infancy → childhood → adulthood → old age → death.
  • Writing/Sharing: describe feelings or thoughts about human life and the concept of death.
  • Class discussion: explore why remembering people who have passed is important and how people celebrate or honor lives.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Listen attentively to storytelling and participate in guided discussion
  • Draw the stages of human life and depict natural death respectfully
  • Reflect on emotional and spiritual aspects of death through writing or sharing
  • Ask and answer questions about human life and the naturalness of death

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to explain in their own words what happens when humans die
  • Observe participation in discussion, drawing, and writing activities
  • Review drawings and writings for understanding, sensitivity, and accurate representation
  • Pose reflective questions: “How can we remember people who have passed?” “Why is it important to value life?”

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Emphasize respect for human life and the natural process of aging and death
  • Encourage learners to express their feelings appropriately and safely
  • Highlight that death is part of God’s plan for all humans and provide reassurance about life’s continuity through memories and community
