Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to point to and name their body parts. Sing a “head, shoulders, knees, and toes” song.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Define each body part and its function:

  • Eyes: For seeing and observing the environment; protect by avoiding direct sunlight, washing hands before touching, and not rubbing with dirty hands.
  • Ears: For hearing; protect from loud noises and keep clean.
  • Nose: For smelling and breathing; keep clean and avoid picking.
  • Mouth and Teeth: For eating, speaking, and smiling; brush teeth twice daily, rinse mouth after meals, visit a dentist.
  • Hands: For touching, holding, writing, and cleaning; wash regularly with soap and water.
  • Feet: For walking and balance; wash daily, wear clean socks and shoes.

Explain proper care and hygiene practices for each body part. Demonstrate using practical examples:

  • Brushing teeth on a model or each other’s teeth (if available).
  • Washing hands with soap and running water.
  • Using a clean handkerchief or tissue to wipe the nose.
  • Eye exercises and protection (not staring directly at the sun).
  • Gentle ear cleaning with a damp cloth (not inserting objects).

Provide local examples: drinking clean water to avoid illness, washing hands before meals, trimming nails, and wearing clean clothes to prevent skin infections.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Identify and label body parts on flashcards or diagrams.
  • Demonstrate brushing teeth and washing hands in small groups.
  • Discuss in pairs ways to protect eyes, ears, nose, and teeth.
  • Practice proper posture and care for hands and feet.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to name three body parts and describe one way to take care of each.
  • Observe practical demonstrations of brushing, washing, and general hygiene.
  • Question learners about the consequences of neglecting care (e.g., cavities, infections).

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Body parts include sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose), mouth and teeth, hands, and feet.
  • Proper hygiene and care prevent communicable diseases, skin infections, and injuries.
  • Emphasize consistency: daily washing, teeth brushing, nail trimming, and safe handling of objects.
  • Highlight that caring for body parts contributes to overall health, self-confidence, and wellbeing.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Review the body parts discussed and hygiene practices.
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Learners write down three body parts and one way to care for each.
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback.
Assignment (Expanded): Draw and label the body parts at home.
Follow-up Activity: Practice daily hygiene routines and report back next class.
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies: Pair learners for support; provide visual aids for learners with hearing difficulties.
