Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to name services they use in their community (school, clinic, transport, market). Show pictures and discuss.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Define community services as organized activities, facilities, and programs that support the well-being of individuals and the community. Explain that these services help people access healthcare, education, transportation, communication, and psycho-social support. Provide concrete examples: visiting a clinic when sick, attending school, traveling safely on roads, receiving information via radio or town criers, or getting help from family and community members. Discuss why community services are essential for daily life, health, learning, and social cohesion. Demonstrate by showing pictures, maps, or short videos of local hospitals, schools, bus stations, and community centers. Conduct role-play scenarios such as going to a clinic, asking for help from a teacher, or using a community library.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Identify different community services from a set of pictures or real-life examples.
  • Share personal experiences of using services like school, healthcare, or transportation.
  • Role-play scenarios: visiting a clinic for a checkup, attending school, or using a bus safely.
  • Group discussion on which service they find most important and why.

Assessment Checks:

  • Ask learners to name three community services and explain one benefit of each.
  • Observe participation during role-play and discussions to ensure understanding.
  • Check that learners can differentiate between types of services.
