Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners who they turn to for help at home, school, or in the community.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Define support systems as the people or institutions that provide help, guidance, and care in daily life. Explain different types: family support (parents, siblings providing care, guidance, encouragement), community support (neighbors, community centers, local organizations helping in emergencies or providing advice), school support (teachers, counselors, peers offering guidance, academic help, and emotional encouragement), and government support (programs, social services, health initiatives, safety regulations). Highlight emotional and social support, including listening, counseling, advice, encouragement, and teamwork. Use real-life examples such as helping a sick neighbor, seeking guidance from a teacher, or attending community workshops.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Role-play scenarios of asking for help from family, teachers, community centers, or health workers.
  • Discuss in pairs or groups how support systems have helped them or others.
  • Identify and list different support systems in the community.
  • Share stories illustrating how emotional or social support improves life.

Assessment Checks:

  • Oral questions: “Name one support system and explain how it helps you or your community.”
  • Observe learners during role-play for understanding of seeking help and empathy.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Support systems strengthen well-being, confidence, and problem-solving.
  • Emotional support includes listening, advice, encouragement, and comfort.
  • Social support involves peer collaboration, community guidance, and institutional assistance.
  • Understanding and using support systems teaches learners to seek help responsibly, provide help to others, and strengthen community bonds.
