Learning Objectives

Previous Knowledge
Students already know: Community services, basic hazards at home and school.
Instructional Materials
Posters, charts, first aid kit, hazard images

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Ask learners to identify hazards they have seen on the road, school, or at home.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Explain safety rules in different environments: roads (cross at pedestrian lines, obey traffic signs, use sidewalks), schools (walk in corridors, handle equipment safely, follow teacher instructions), and homes (avoid sharp objects, store chemicals safely, do not play near fire or electricity). Demonstrate basic first aid for minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, burns, and bruises (cleaning wounds, applying bandages, cooling burns with water). Discuss emergency numbers, how to report hazards, and whom to contact in case of accidents. Use practical demonstrations and visual aids to reinforce learning.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Identify hazards in classroom or picture scenarios.
  • Role-play safely crossing a road or moving in school corridors.
  • Demonstrate applying a bandage or cooling a minor burn on a model or each other with guidance.
  • Discuss and list safe behaviors at home, school, and community.

Assessment Checks:

  • Oral questions: “What should you do if someone gets a minor cut?”
  • Observe learners performing first aid demonstrations and practicing safe behaviors.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Safety rules help prevent accidents and injuries in daily life.
  • First aid provides immediate care until professional help is available.
  • Recognizing hazards and responding appropriately develops responsibility and awareness.
  • Emphasize that following safety rules and teaching others keeps families, classmates, and communities safe.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Learners explain key safety rules and demonstrate first aid techniques.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: List two safety rules at school and one first aid technique.
Teacher will provide oral feedback.

Assignment (Expanded):
Create a safety poster for your home or school showing at least three safety rules.

Follow-up Activity:
Discuss how following safety rules protects families and the community.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Use visual aids, hands-on first aid demonstration, and peer mentoring for learners with different needs.
