Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Activity: The teacher will ask the class:
• Can you name all the vehicles and places we learned?
• How do you say “This is my…” and “Here is your…” in French?
Learner’s Role:
Recall vocabulary and sentence structures, participate orally.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Role (Expanded & Detailed)

Organize and facilitate engaging vocabulary reinforcement activities such as bingo and memory matching games using travel vocabulary (la voiture, le camion, la moto, le vélo, le bus, le train) and adjectives (demonstrative: ce, cette, ces; possessive: mon, ma, mes, ton, ta, tes). Prepare cards with pictures and words to support these games.

Guide students through creative drawing and labeling activities: ask them to create a travel scene (e.g., a beach, countryside, or city setting) featuring various vehicles and places learned in class. Monitor students closely during oral and written exercises, offering corrective feedback on pronunciation, spelling, adjective agreement, and sentence construction. Encourage learners to use full sentences incorporating adjectives and vocabulary confidently during activities.

Facilitate group work and oral practice, ensuring every student has the opportunity to participate actively. Reinforce the importance of gender and number agreement in adjectives and nouns, and encourage clear, confident speaking.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Participate actively in bingo and memory matching games, identifying vocabulary and adjectives correctly.
  • Create and color travel scene drawings, labeling vehicles and places with complete French sentences using demonstrative and possessive adjectives (e.g., Voici mon vélo à la plage, C’est le bus de papa en ville).
  • Write short descriptive paragraphs about their travel scenes, using at least 5 vehicles and 3 places vocabulary, incorporating adjectives.
  • Practice dialogues and sentence formation in pairs or groups, focusing on fluency, accuracy, and pronunciation.
  • Exchange written work with peers for feedback and participate in group discussions to reinforce learning.

Assessment Checks

  • Observe and assess students’ fluency and accuracy in using vocabulary and adjectives during oral activities and games.
  • Check for correct spelling, adjective agreement, and sentence structure in written paragraphs and labels.
  • Monitor participation and collaboration during group work and peer review sessions.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve language use.

Peer Review

  • Students exchange their written paragraphs and labeled drawings, checking for correct use of vocabulary and adjectives.
  • In groups, students discuss and give constructive feedback on each other’s work, focusing on grammar, spelling, and clarity of expression.
  • Encourage positive reinforcement and peer encouragement to build confidence.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Emphasize correct pronunciation and spelling throughout all activities.
  • Use a variety of visual and interactive tools to cater to different learning styles.
  • Encourage teamwork and creativity to make learning enjoyable and effective.
  • Remind learners to use full sentences consistently to build speaking and writing skills.

Assignment (Homework)

  • Write a short paragraph (5-7 sentences) describing a travel scene using at least 5 vehicles and 3 places vocabulary words learned in class.
  • Include at least 3 demonstrative or possessive adjectives in full sentences (e.g., Voici mon vélo à la campagne, C’est la voiture de maman à la plage).
  • Encourage learners to illustrate their paragraph with a drawing and label it in French.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Evaluation Method:
• Exit slip/quiz: Name 3 vehicles and 2 places in French and form 2 sentences using “C’est mon…” or “Voici ta…”
• Follow-up Activity: Pair oral practice or mini-presentations of travel scenes.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies:
Provide sentence starters or word banks for learners needing support. Encourage advanced learners to create more complex sentences or dialogues.
