Sub-topic: Understanding and Using Feedback to Improve Skills
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to define feedback, give and receive constructive feedback, and use feedback to improve motor skills

Previous Knowledge
Students already know: Basic motor skills like throwing, catching, and movement patterns

Instructional Materials
Cones, balls, mats, charts for demonstration, recording sheets

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Discussion: Ask students if they have ever received feedback during sports or PE activities. Quick warm-up with stretching and light exercises

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Definition of Feedback: Feedback is information about a learner’s performance that helps them improve. It can highlight what was done correctly and what needs adjustment.

Types of Feedback:

  • Teacher Feedback: Guidance from the teacher to help learners correct errors and reinforce good practices. Example: “Try bending your knees when you throw to improve accuracy.”
  • Peer Feedback: Suggestions from classmates to help each other improve. Example: “You can pass the ball faster by stepping forward while passing.”

Importance of Feedback:

  • Helps learners correct mistakes
  • Reinforces good techniques and behaviors
  • Boosts confidence and motivation
  • Enhances learning and skill development

Skills Developed:

  • Listening carefully to feedback
  • Adjusting movements and techniques based on advice
  • Communicating politely and clearly when giving feedback

Examples/Activities:

  • Pair Exercises: Learners practice throwing and catching in pairs, giving feedback to each other
  • Teacher Demonstration: Teacher shows incorrect vs. correct technique for a skill (e.g., throwing a ball) and learners critique what was done wrong and right
  • Reflection Discussion: Learners discuss the question: “What feedback helped you improve today?”

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Practice motor skills individually and in pairs
  • Give constructive feedback to peers politely
  • Receive guidance and immediately apply corrections

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe learners applying feedback to improve their technique
  • Note learners’ ability to give polite, constructive feedback to peers

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Feedback is essential for skill development, self-awareness, and building communication skills
  • Constructive feedback should always be positive, specific, and actionable
  • Encouraging peer feedback promotes teamwork and collaborative learning

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Recap types of feedback, importance, and how it can improve skills
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Students write one feedback they received that helped improve a skill
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded): Practice a skill at home and note any feedback received
Follow-up Activity: Reflect on improvements in next lesson
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies: Provide verbal or visual cues for students needing additional support
Teacher’s Reflection (After Class)
