Sub-topic: Squirrel and Nut, Mouse Trap
Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to participate safely in classroom and locomotor games, follow rules, and develop teamwork and coordination skills

Previous Knowledge
Students already know: Basic game rules, locomotor skills, teamwork concepts

Instructional Materials
Balls, cones, classroom space, markers, chart for game rules

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Warm-up: Light stretching, jogging. Discussion: How games improve coordination and teamwork

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Definition & Explanation: Teacher explains that games are not only fun but also help improve coordination, agility, and social skills. Emphasize that playing safely, following rules, and cooperating with peers are important parts of each game.

Game Demonstrations & Procedures:

  • Squirrel and Nut (Classroom Game):
    • Objective: One “squirrel” collects “nuts” while others try to tag them safely.
    • Rules: Only move within designated space, no pushing, tagging must be gentle, rotate roles so everyone gets a turn.
    • Safety Tips: Clear the area of obstacles, wear appropriate footwear, respect personal space.
    • Demonstration: Teacher models movements, tagging safely, and collecting “nuts.”
  • Mouse Trap (Locomotor Game):
    • Objective: Players chase or dodge “traps” placed around a safe area.
    • Rules: Follow chase directions, avoid collisions, use quick footwork, rotate roles to practice chasing and dodging.
    • Coordination Focus: Quick changes in direction, speed control, balance.
    • Demonstration: Teacher shows dodging, stopping safely, and chasing techniques.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  1. Warm-Up: Light jogging or stretching for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Station Rotation: Divide learners into small groups, rotating between Squirrel and Nut and Mouse Trap stations.
  3. Game Practice:
    • Apply rules and strategies learned.
    • Focus on safe movement, spatial awareness, and teamwork.
    • Encourage students to communicate with peers and help each other follow rules.
  4. Reflection: After each rotation, students discuss what skills they practiced (e.g., dodging, chasing, coordination) and how teamwork helped in the game.
  5. Skill Reinforcement: Teacher highlights key motor skills, safety behaviors, and strategies observed.

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe each student for:
  1. Safe participation and rule adherence
  2. Coordination and agility during game movements
  3. Teamwork, communication, and fair play
  • Ask reflective questions:
  1. “Which movement in the game was most challenging?”
  2. “How did you help your teammate during the game?”
  3. “What did you learn about moving safely and quickly?”

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Games reinforce cardiovascular fitness, agility, coordination, and motor planning.
  • Rotating stations allow practice of multiple skills and exposure to different game strategies.
  • Encourages peer observation and constructive feedback, boosting social skills and self-confidence.
  • Teacher emphasizes safe participation, spatial awareness, and adherence to game rules.
  • Reflection discussions connect the fun of the game with the learning outcomes: fitness, teamwork, and coordination.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Recap game rules, teamwork, and skills practiced
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Students write one skill they improved during games
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded): Practice one locomotor skill at home safely
Follow-up Activity: Reflect on improvements and areas to focus on next week
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies: Adjust game roles or difficulty for all students
Teacher’s Reflection (After Class)
