Learning Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to perform basic gymnastic activities with control, balance, and safety awareness

Previous Knowledge
Students already know: Basic coordination and simple movement skills

Instructional Materials
Mats, cones, charts for demonstration

Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Discussion: Importance of balance and flexibility; warm-up with stretching and light jumps

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
Sub-topics: Animal Walks, Basic Tumbling, Safe Landing & Posture

Animal Walks:

  • Bear Walk: Moving on hands and feet with hips high, promoting upper body strength and coordination
  • Crab Walk: Moving backward on hands and feet with stomach facing upward, enhancing flexibility and balance
  • Frog Jumps: Squatting and jumping forward, developing leg strength and explosive power

Basic Tumbling:

  • Forward Roll: Rolling forward from a crouched position, emphasizing control and safe landing
  • Log Roll: Rolling sideways like a log, maintaining body alignment for safety

Safe Landing & Posture:

  • Bend knees on landing to absorb impact
  • Keep head and neck aligned with the spine
  • Use hands and feet for balance as needed
  • Focus on smooth, controlled movements to prevent injuries

Skills Developed:

  • Coordination: Synchronizing limbs for smooth movement
  • Balance: Maintaining stability while moving or performing stunts
  • Flexibility: Increasing range of motion in joints and muscles
  • Safety Awareness: Applying techniques to prevent injury

Examples/Activities:

  • Station Exercises: Set up different stations for bear walk, crab walk, frog jumps, forward rolls, and log rolls; learners rotate through stations
  • Pair/Group Balance Challenges: Encourage learners to support each other while performing activities, fostering teamwork
  • Teacher Demonstration & Peer Feedback: Teacher models correct technique; peers observe and provide constructive feedback

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Perform animal walks and tumbling exercises with focus on control and posture
  • Practice safe landing techniques during jumps and rolls
  • Observe peers and give polite, constructive feedback on performance
  • Reflect on how these movements improve strength, coordination, and confidence

Assessment Checks:

  • Observe learners’ control, balance, and accuracy during gymnastic movements
  • Assess posture and safe execution of rolls and jumps
  • Monitor engagement and ability to provide constructive peer feedback

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Gymnastic activities build confidence, strength, and coordination
  • Reinforcing safe techniques prevents injuries and promotes positive participation
  • Peer feedback and teacher guidance enhance learning and self-awareness
  • Regular practice helps learners apply balance, flexibility, and coordination skills to games and daily movement activities

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Recap gymnastic skills, safety, and balance principles
Evaluation Method (Expanded)
Exit slip/quiz: Perform one tumbling move safely and explain posture
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback
Assignment (Expanded): Practice one gymnastic activity at home or during recess
Follow-up Activity: Review and integrate gymnastic skills in next PE session
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies: Provide support for learners needing help with balance or strength, use simplified moves
