Scripture

Explanation

John 14:1–3

Jesus comforts His followers, promising to prepare a place for those who believe in Him. This shows there is a special place for believers after death, called Heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:20–22

Paul explains that Jesus rose from the dead, and because of His resurrection, all believers will be raised to life too. This is the foundation of Christian hope in eternal life.

  1. Explanation of Concepts
  • Death affects only the body, which stops working and is buried.
  • The soul continues to live and will be reunited with a new, glorified body at the resurrection.
  • At the end of time, there will be a final judgment where those who believe in Jesus will be granted eternal life in Heaven.
  • Jesus’ resurrection is proof and hope for this promise.

  1. Examples from the Bible
  • The Story of Lazarus (John 11): Jesus brought Lazarus back to life after he had died, showing His power over death and promising resurrection to all believers.
  • Jesus’ Own Resurrection (Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24): Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, confirming His divine power and the promise of eternal life.

  1. Practical Activity
  • Learners work in groups to dramatize the resurrection of Lazarus.
  • Role-play includes the sorrow of Lazarus’ family, Jesus’ command to Lazarus to come out, and the joy of Lazarus returning to life.
  • This dramatization helps learners understand the power of Jesus and the hope of resurrection.

  1. Learners’ Activities (Expanded)
  • Reading: Learners read John 14:1–3 aloud in pairs or small groups.
  • Discussion: Learners explain in their own words how resurrection gives hope to Christians.
  • Creative Drawing: Learners draw their own pictures of Heaven as a place of eternal life, including peaceful, joyful images.
  • Sharing: Learners share their drawings and ideas with the class, explaining what eternal life means to them.

  1. Assessment Checks
  • Teacher asks:
  1. Who promised eternal life to believers?
  2. What did Jesus say in John 14:1–3?
  3. Why is Jesus’ resurrection important for Christians?
  4. What does the story of Lazarus teach us about life after death?

  1. Notes (Expanded & Detailed)
  • Christianity teaches that life does not end with death. Instead, there is hope for eternal life through Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus promised to prepare a place in Heaven for believers, giving assurance that death is not the final destination.
  • The resurrection of Jesus is the central event that shows victory over death. Because Jesus rose, Christians believe they too will rise and live forever with God.
  • Stories like Lazarus help believers understand that Jesus has power over life and death and that He cares for those who believe in Him.
  • This hope encourages Christians to live faithful and loving lives.

Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Death is not the end. Jesus gives eternal life to believers.
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
