Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks learners: “What is the most powerful medicine you know?” After responses, teacher explains that Jesus’ power to heal was greater than any medicine.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

  1. Definitions and Explanations
  • Jesus’ Healing Miracles:
Jesus performed many miraculous healings to demonstrate God’s love for people. These miracles were not just physical healings but also signs that revealed His divine authority and power over sickness, suffering, and even death.
  • Each healing story teaches important lessons:
    • Compassion: Jesus cared deeply about people’s pain and suffering.
    • Faith: Many healings happened because the sick or those around them had faith in Jesus’ power to heal.
    • Divine Authority: Only God has the power to heal and perform miracles, so these healings show Jesus is God’s Son.

  1. Examples of Healing Miracles
  • Paralytic Healed (Mark 2:1–12):
Jesus healed a man who could not walk, showing He could forgive sins and restore physical health.
  • Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46–52):
A blind man called out to Jesus, and because of his faith, Jesus gave him sight.
  • Jairus’ Daughter Raised (Luke 8:40–56):
Jesus brought a dead girl back to life, showing power over death.
  • Woman with Issue of Blood (Mark 5:25–34):
A woman who had been sick for 12 years was healed when she touched Jesus’ cloak, illustrating that faith can bring healing.

  1. Demonstration
  • Teacher reads Mark 5:25–34 aloud (the healing of the woman with the issue of blood).
  • Teacher pauses to explain:
    • The woman had suffered for a long time and was desperate for healing.
    • She believed if she just touched Jesus’ clothes, she would be healed.
    • Jesus acknowledged her faith and said, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.”
  • Highlight: Faith played a key role in receiving healing.

  1. Practical Activities
  2. Paired Bible Reading:
    • Learners take turns reading the healing stories in pairs (choose passages like Mark 2:1–12, Mark 10:46–52, Luke 8:40–56, Mark 5:25–34).
    • Encourage them to listen carefully and discuss the key points after reading.
  3. Drawing Activity:
    • Each learner draws a scene from one healing miracle in their notebooks (e.g., the woman touching Jesus’ cloak or Bartimaeus receiving sight).
    • They can add captions or write a sentence describing the miracle.
  4. Group Role-Plays:
    • Divide the class into small groups.
    • Assign each group a healing story to act out in a short play.
    • Use simple props if available (cloth for the woman’s cloak, pretend stairs for Jairus’ daughter, etc.).

  1. Assessment Checks
  • Oral Questions:
  1. What sickness did the woman have in Mark 5?
  2. How did Bartimaeus show his faith before Jesus healed him?
  3. Why did Jesus perform healing miracles?
  4. What can we learn from the healing stories about faith and compassion?
  • Written or Drawing Task:
    • Write one sentence about a healing story they liked the most.
    • Draw or describe how faith helped in the healing.

  1. Learners’ Activities (Expanded)
  • Reading Bible verses aloud with a partner to improve fluency and understanding.
  • Drawing and labeling healing scenes to engage creatively.
  • Acting out stories to experience the events more deeply and develop empathy.
  • Participating in Q&A to reflect and reinforce learning.

  1. Notes (Expanded & Detailed)
  • Jesus’ healing miracles are important because:
    • They show Jesus’ compassion for those who suffer.
    • They reveal His divine power—only God can perform such miracles.
    • They encourage faith—many healed believed Jesus could help them, and Jesus often said their faith made them well.
    • Healing was part of Jesus’ mission to restore both body and spirit.
  • Today, Christians are reminded to have faith in God’s power and to show compassion by helping those who are sick or in need.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Jesus’ healings showed love, compassion, and divine power.
Evaluation Method (Expanded): Exit slip/quiz: Write one miracle and explain what it teaches us.
Assignment (Expanded): Write down four healing miracles of Jesus and describe the lesson in each.
Follow-up Activity: Learners interview family members about their favorite healing miracle.
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Students with difficulty reading get help from peers during Bible reading. Visual aids are used for learners who understand better with pictures.
