Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks learners: “What happens when someone is sick or when someone dies?”
B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes
- Definition and Explanation
- Humans are made of two parts:
- Body: The physical part we can see, touch, and use to interact with the world (examples: eyes, hands, skin, legs).
- Soul: The invisible, spiritual part that gives life and personality. It cannot be seen but is very important because it never dies.
- The soul is what makes a person truly alive and connects them to God.

Scripture

Explanation
|
|
Matthew 10:28
|
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” This teaches the soul is different from the body and has eternal significance.
|
|
Surah Al-Isra 17:85
|
“And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, ‘The soul is of the affair of my Lord.’” This shows the soul is a divine mystery under Allah’s control.
|
- Examples
- When a person dies, the body stops working and is buried or cremated.
- The soul leaves the body and returns to God, continuing to live in another form.
- This shows why the soul is considered eternal and sacred.
- Demonstration
- Teacher draws a simple human figure on the board.
- Labels visible body parts: eyes, hands, feet, heart.
- Adds “soul” inside the figure as an invisible, spiritual part.
- Teacher asks learners to describe differences between the body and soul.
- Teacher explains that while we care for the body by eating and washing, the soul needs spiritual care such as prayer, kindness, and obeying God.
- Learners’ Activities (Expanded)
- Touch and Identify:
Learners touch parts of their body (hands, eyes, chest) and name them as physical parts of the body.
- Soul Discussion:
Learners explain what makes them feel alive inside and what part cannot be seen (the soul).
- Care Practices:
Learners share how they take care of their body (e.g., eating healthy food, washing, exercising) and how they take care of their soul (e.g., praying, being kind, telling the truth).
- Group Sharing:
Learners discuss why both body and soul are important and how they work together.
- Assessment Checks
- What are the two parts of a human being?
- Which part of a person can you see and touch?
- What is the soul?
- What happens to the body when a person dies?
- Where does the soul go after death?
- Reflection:
Write or say one way you can take care of your body and one way to take care of your soul.
- Notes (Expanded & Detailed)
- Humans are a combination of physical and spiritual parts.
- The body is temporary and will die, but the soul is eternal and belongs to God.
- Both the Bible and Quran teach that the soul is a special gift from God and is under His care.
- Taking care of the body includes healthy living habits, while taking care of the soul includes spiritual practices such as prayer, kindness, and obedience to God’s laws.
- Understanding the difference between body and soul helps learners appreciate life and the importance of spiritual growth.
C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Humans are made of body and soul. The body dies, but the soul is eternal.
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Write one difference between body and soul. Teacher collects slips and provides oral feedback.
Assignment (Expanded): Write three ways you can take care of your body and three ways you can take care of your soul.
Follow-up Activity: Students ask their parents how they take care of their bodies and souls.
Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Slower learners can explain using examples while stronger learners can give scriptural references.
