Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks students to discuss in pairs what they understand about personal values and sexual responsibility.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Input (Expanded & Detailed):

  • Begin by explaining personal values regarding sex and reproduction: beliefs and principles that guide behavior and choices about relationships, intimacy, and reproductive health.
  • Emphasize responsible sexual behavior, including:
    • Abstaining or delaying sexual activity – choosing to wait until physically, emotionally, and socially ready.
      • Example: A student decides to focus on schoolwork rather than engaging in sexual activity.
    • Using protection – employing methods to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.
      • Example: Learning about safe practices in age-appropriate ways and understanding their importance.
  • Explain the consequences of unsafe sexual behavior: unwanted pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, STIs, emotional and social challenges.
  • Demonstrate through case studies and group discussions:
    • Case Study 1: A student is pressured by peers to engage in sexual activity. Discuss strategies to resist pressure.
    • Case Study 2: A young person learns about the importance of protection and decides to wait. Discuss outcomes of this decision.
  • Highlight the importance of self-control, respect for personal values, and making informed decisions for reproductive health and safety.

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Participate in group discussions about peer pressure, decision-making, and consequences of sexual behavior.
  • Role-play scenarios: learners demonstrate saying “no” to unsafe sexual practices, making informed choices, and supporting peers.
  • Write reflection notes on their personal values and how they plan to make safe, responsible decisions regarding relationships and reproductive health.
  • Identify real-life examples of positive decision-making among peers or family members.

Assessment Checks:

  • Oral questions:
    • “Why is it important to delay sexual activity?”
    • “What are some ways to protect yourself from HIV and pregnancy?”
    • “How can respecting your personal values help you make good decisions?”
  • Observation: Teacher monitors participation in role-plays and group discussions.
  • Written reflection: Learners describe a personal plan to make responsible decisions about sexuality and reproduction.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed for Students):

  • Understanding consequences: Unsafe sexual behavior can lead to pregnancy, STIs, and emotional challenges.
  • Self-control and personal values: Respecting one’s beliefs and making informed decisions helps protect health and well-being.
  • Safe practices: Abstinence or using protection are ways to prevent risks.
  • Examples in daily life:
    • Saying “no” to peer pressure regarding sexual activity.
    • Choosing to focus on schoolwork and personal goals.
    • Learning about reproductive health from trusted adults, teachers, or health professionals.

Practical Assignment:

  • Write a short paragraph about a personal value related to sexuality and how it guides their decisions.
  • Create a poster or chart showing safe practices for reproductive health (abstinence, delaying sexual activity, using protection).
  • Discuss with parents or guardians at home about personal values and decision-making and write a one-paragraph summary of the discussion for class.

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Students share one personal value they will uphold and one safe practice they will follow.

Teacher provides oral feedback

Assignment (Expanded):
Create a personal values chart showing decisions about sexuality and health

Follow-up Activity:
