Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Teacher asks rapid oral questions using all interrogatives; students respond quickly.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Introduction to Review:
Teacher begins the session by reminding students that they have learned different interrogative words over the past weeks, such as:

  • Où – Where
  • Quand – When
  • Quoi – What
  • Qui – Who
  • Quel / Quelle / Quels / Quelles – Which / What

Teacher asks quick questions as a warm-up, and students respond orally:

  • Où est ton cahier ?
  • Quelle est ta couleur préférée ?
  • Qui est ton ami ?
  • Quoi de neuf ?

Activity 1: Quiz Game – "Interrogative Champions"

  • The class is divided into two or three teams.
  • The teacher asks a series of questions in French using interrogatives. Example questions:
    • Où vas-tu ?
    • Quand est ton anniversaire ?
    • Qui est dans la classe ?
    • Quel fruit aimes-tu ?
    • Quelle heure est-il ?
  • Teams earn points for correct answers.
  • Bonus round: Teams translate questions from English to French or identify the correct interrogative for given situations.

Activity 2: Peer Questioning Session – “Pose-moi une question” (Ask me a question)

  • Students pair up. Each student must ask their partner at least three questions using different interrogatives.
  • Sample exchanges:
    • A: Où habites-tu ?
    • B: J’habite à Monrovia.
    • A: Quelle est ta saison préférée ?
    • B: J’aime l’été.
    • A: Qui est ton meilleur ami ?
    • B: Mon ami est Samuel.
  • Partners switch roles and continue questioning.

Activity 3: Group Dialogue Presentation – “Let’s Talk!”

  • Students work in groups of 3–4.
  • Each group writes and performs a short conversation (about 6–8 lines) that includes at least 5 different interrogative words.
  • Sample dialogue outline:
    • A: Bonjour ! Quel est ton nom ?
    • B: Je m’appelle Marie.
    • A: Où habites-tu ?
    • B: J’habite à Gbarnga.
    • A: Quelle est ta couleur préférée ?
    • B: J’aime le bleu.
    • A: Qui est ton enseignant ?
    • B: Mon enseignant est Monsieur Kromah.
  • Groups are encouraged to add emotion, gestures, and natural tone during performance.
  • The teacher gives positive feedback and corrects where necessary.
