Lesson Development – ABC Model
A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Students form small groups and play a “name and clap” game where each learner says their name and claps, and the next person repeats. This introduces social bonding.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)
Time: 25–30 minutes

Teacher’s Explanations (Expanded & Detailed):
The teacher explains that physical activity is not only good for the body but also helps us relate better with others. These are called social benefits:

  1. Making Friends
    • When we play games or sports, we meet new people and make friends.
    • Playing together helps us know each other better and enjoy being with others.
    • Example: Meeting classmates during a football game and becoming friends afterward.
  2. Learning Cooperation
    • Cooperation means working together peacefully with others.
    • Games teach us to share, support teammates, and respect the rules.
    • Example: Passing the ball instead of keeping it to yourself, or encouraging a teammate who made a mistake.
  3. Teamwork
    • Teamwork is about joining hands with others to reach a goal.
    • It builds trust, respect, and problem-solving skills.
    • Example: Relay races where each runner depends on the next, or group games where winning depends on everyone.

Teacher Demonstrations (Practical Activities):

  • Relay Race: Teacher organizes a short relay race. Learners see how working as a team helps them finish faster compared to running alone.
  • Ball-Passing Drill: Teacher shows how players must pass the ball to succeed, teaching sharing and cooperation.
  • Group Talk: After activities, teacher starts a short discussion: “How do games bring people together? How did you feel when your group supported you?”

Learners’ Activities (Expanded):

  • Learners take part in:
  1. Relay Race in groups – each student runs a short distance, then passes the baton to the next.
  2. Ball-Passing Game – students form small circles and pass a ball quickly while following rules.
  3. Discussion & Reflection – in groups, learners share how they felt when they worked together versus when they tried doing the task alone.
  • Each group gives one example of how teamwork or cooperation helped them in the activity.

Assessment Checks:
Teacher checks understanding through questions:

  1. Why is it important to follow rules in games?
  2. How do games help you make new friends?
  3. Give one example of how teamwork helped your group during today’s activity.
Teacher observes participation during games to see if learners cooperate, share, and respect rules.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):
Social benefits of physical activity are the ways games and exercises help us relate to others. Through sports and group games, learners make friends, learn to cooperate by sharing, supporting others, and following rules, and practice teamwork by working together to achieve a goal. These activities build trust, respect, and stronger relationships. Playing games is not just about winning—it is about learning to live and work well with others.

Assignment (to extend learning):

  • Write down two games or sports you have played with your friends. For each one, explain how it helped you:
  1. Make or strengthen friendships
  2. Cooperate with others
  3. Work as a team

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary: Teacher emphasizes making friends, cooperation, and teamwork as key social benefits.

Evaluation Method (Expanded):
Exit slip/quiz: Write one way exercise helps you in making friends, one way it teaches cooperation, and one way it builds teamwork.
Teacher will collect slips and provide oral feedback.

Assignment (Expanded): Students will interview a family member or friend and ask how playing sports or exercising has helped them socially.

Follow-up Activity: Students are asked to play a group game at home with siblings or friends and record how they worked together.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies
Learners with difficulties are given roles like whistle blower or score keeper to ensure inclusion.
