    • Example: C’est un livre. (This is a book.)

  • Introduce Voici … (Here is …) and Voilà … (There is …).
    • Example: Voici mon ami Paul. (Here is my friend Paul.)
    • Voilà la salle de classe. (There is the classroom.)
  • Emphasize pronunciation difference: voici (vwa-see) vs. voilà (vwa-la).
  • Highlight cultural use: French speakers often use voici/voilà in daily life when handing items.

 

  1. Expressing Age with Avoir + âge
  • Teach conjugation of avoir (to have):
    • J’ai … ans (I am … years old)
    • Tu as … ans (You are … years old)
    • Il/Elle a … ans (He/She is … years old)
    • Nous avons … ans (We are … years old)
    • Vous avez … ans (You are … years old – formal/plural)
    • Ils/Elles ont … ans (They are … years old)

  • Teach masculine/feminine forms:
    • libérien / libérienne (Liberian)

    • sénégalais / sénégalaise (Senegalese)
  • Example sentences:
    • Je suis libérien. (I am Liberian.)
    • Elle est française. (She is French.)
    • Ils sont américains. (They are Americans.)
    • Nous sommes sénégalaises. (We are Senegalese – feminine plural.)
  • Stress agreement: nationalities must agree in gender (masc./fem.) and number (sing./plural).
