Time: 25–30 minutes

  1. Rules for Adjective Placement
  • Teacher explains:
    • Most adjectives follow the noun.
      • Un livre intéressant (An interesting book).
      • Une maison grande (A big house).
    • Some common adjectives come before the noun: petit, grand, joli, beau, jeune, vieux, bon, mauvais.
      • Un petit garçon (A small boy).
      • Une jolie fille (A pretty girl).
      • Un vieux monsieur (An old man).
  • Examples on the board:
    • Ce garçon est grand.
    • Cette fille est petite.
    • C’est un joli sac.
  • Guided practice: Pupils underline adjectives in sentences and identify if they are before or after the noun.

  1. Demonstrative Adjectives Review and Introduction
  • Review singular forms:
    • Ce → masculine singular before consonant (Ce livre).
    • Cet → masculine singular before vowel or silent “h” (Cet homme).
    • Cette → feminine singular (Cette table).
  • Introduce plural form:
    • Ces → used for both masculine and feminine plural (Ces garçons, ces filles).

    • Ce garçon est grand.
    • Cet élève est intelligent.
    • Cette fille est jolie.
