Students already know:

  • Basic verbs aller and venir in present tense (je, tu, il/elle, nous, vous, ils/elles)
  • Prepositions à and de with places
  • Vocabulary for towns, cities, and common locations
  • Basic question and answer structures (Où vas-tu ?, D’où viens-tu ?)

Instructional Materials

  • Flashcards with place names (school, market, church, airport, train station, cities)
  • Whiteboard and markers
  • Worksheets for sentences and dialogues
  • Role-play prompts
  • Students’ notebooks and writing materials

Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)
Time: 5–10 minutes

  • Teacher asks: “Où vas-tu ?” and “D’où viens-tu ?”
  • Pupils respond using familiar places (l’école, le marché).
  • Quick oral drill: conjugation of aller and venir in present tense.

B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body)

Time: 25–30 minutes

  • Example prompts: “mère / marché”, “amis / aéroport”, “nous / église”.

  1. Grammar Focus: Venir de + Lieu
  • Teacher explains: Venir de + place shows where someone is coming from.
  • Conjugation of venir (present tense):
    • Je viens
    • Tu viens

    • Nous venons
    • Vous venez
    • Ils/Elles viennent

  1. Practical Dialogue Practice
  • Teacher models short exchanges:

Example 1 (Aller):

Notes (Expanded & Detailed)

  • Emphasize the difference between aller à (destination) and venir de (origin).
  • Reinforce contractions: à + le = au (au marché), de + le = du (du marché).
  • Connect to Week 25: integrate transport vocabulary (e.g., Je vais à l’aéroport en taxi.).

Assignment (Homework)

  1. Write 5 sentences using aller à + lieu about where you or family members are going.
  2. Write 5 sentences using venir de + lieu about where you or friends are coming from.

  4. Practice orally with a family member, asking and answering: “Où vas-tu ? / D’où viens-tu ?”

C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes

  • Recap grammar rules: aller à for destinations, venir de for origins.
  • Volunteers share sentences orally.
Evaluation Method: Quick oral quiz – pupils answer 2–3 questions about destinations and origins using correct forms.
Follow-up Activity: Prepare for Week 27 – Combining Transport, Places, and Directions in Dialogues.

Differentiation / Inclusive Strategies

  • Struggling learners: Visual prompts, guided sentence starters, repetition drills.
  • Advanced learners: Create longer dialogues combining transport vocabulary, destinations, and origins.
  • Students with disabilities: Extra time, peer support, written prompts.
