Lesson Development – ABC Model

A – Anticipation (Warm-up / Starter)

Time: 5–7 minutes
Activity:

  • Teacher writes: Je partage l’avis de mon ami.
  • Ask pupils: “Quel est le verbe principal ici ?” (Answer: partager).
  • Quick oral brainstorming: What other verbs are used in opinion expressions? (admettre, commettre).

  1. Grammar Review – Opinion Expressions (5 minutes)

Teacher reminds class of useful grammar structures for expressing opinions:

  • Je partage l’avis de… → I share the opinion of…
  • J’admets que… → I admit that…
  • Il/elle commet une erreur quand… → He/she makes a mistake when…

Teacher Examples:

  1. Je partage l’avis de mon père: l’école est importante.
  2. J’admets que je parle trop en classe.
  3. Elle commet une erreur quand elle oublie ses devoirs.
  4. Je partage l’avis de ma sœur: la musique est relaxante.
  5. Ils commettent une erreur quand ils ne respectent pas les règles.

Game 1: Conjugation Relay

  • Two teams line up.
  • Teacher writes a blank verb table (e.g., Admettre) on the board.
  • Each pupil from a team comes forward to fill in one correct form.
  • First team to complete correctly wins.

Game 2: Opinion Dice Game

  • Numbers 1–3 = Partager, 4–5 = Admettre, 6 = Commettre.
  • Pupil rolls dice → must say a correct sentence with the corresponding verb.
  • Example: Dice shows 2 (Partager) → Pupil: Je partage l’avis de mon professeur.
