B – Building Knowledge (Main Lesson Body) (25–30 minutes):
Teacher’s Role:
• Explain Christmas (December 25): Celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Emphasizes joy, giving, family unity, and compassion. In Liberia, activities include church services, nativity plays, family meals, community gift-giving, and charity to the needy.
• Explain Easter (date varies – Sunday after the first full moon following March 21): Commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Highlights hope, renewal, forgiveness, and salvation. Liberian celebrations include sunrise services, communal prayers, reconciliation events, and festive meals.
• Explain Fast and Prayer Day (first Friday in June in Liberia): Dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection for spiritual renewal, guidance, and personal discipline. Liberians participate in church services, national prayers for peace, and personal introspection.
• Explain Thanksgiving Day (first Thursday in November in Liberia): A day to express gratitude to God for blessings, providence, and harvest. Activities include church services, family gatherings, communal meals, and donations to the less fortunate.
• Discuss common activities across festivals: attending church services, communal feasts, prayers, acts of charity, family visits, and cultural performances.
