Teacher’s Role:
• Explain key moral teachings from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7):
– Humility: valuing others, avoiding pride, serving without seeking recognition.
– Mercy: helping those in need, forgiving others, showing compassion in daily life.
– Forgiveness: letting go of grudges, reconciling with those who have wronged us.
– Honesty: speaking the truth, keeping promises, acting with integrity.
– Love for neighbors: treating others with respect, helping the community, promoting unity.
– Provide Liberian examples: youth volunteering in schools or communities, students resolving peer conflicts peacefully, neighbors assisting each other during crises.
• Explain key moral teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him):
– Justice: treating everyone fairly, upholding rights, resolving disputes equitably.
– Compassion: caring for the poor, helping the vulnerable, promoting social welfare.
– Honesty: truthful speech, avoiding deceit, fair trading practices.
– Respect: honoring elders, teachers, and neighbors.
– Social responsibility: contributing to community development, obeying laws, and promoting harmony.
– Provide Liberian examples: community conflict resolution guided by religious leaders, charitable activities during Ramadan, or helping neighbors in need.
• Discuss similarities and differences between Jesus’ and Muhammad’s teachings:
– Similarities: honesty, compassion, forgiveness, respect for others, promoting ethical behavior.
– Differences: emphasis on specific religious obligations, ritual practices, or cultural context.
• Compare Patriarchs’ teachings (faith, obedience, ethical conduct) with African Traditional Leaders’ moral guidance (communal harmony, respect for elders, ethical customs).
– Highlight how Patriarchs guide through faith, moral law, and personal discipline.
– African Traditional Leaders emphasize communal living, maintaining traditions, and ethical decision-making.
– Provide Liberian examples: elders mediating disputes, respecting customary laws, or youth learning discipline from family and community leaders.
• Emphasize practical application: how these teachings can influence school, family, and community life to promote ethical behavior, peace, and social cohesion.
Learners’ Activities (Expanded):
• Take detailed notes and ask clarifying questions.
• In groups, create a comparison chart showing similarities and differences between Jesus’ and Muhammad’s moral teachings.

Notes (Expanded & Detailed):
The Sermon on the Mount provides universal moral guidance emphasizing humility, mercy, forgiveness, honesty, and love for others. Prophet Muhammad’s teachings similarly stress justice, compassion, honesty, respect, and social responsibility. While there are differences due to religious context and obligations, both promote ethical living, personal growth, and societal harmony. Patriarchs guide through faith, obedience, and moral law, whereas African Traditional Leaders emphasize community cohesion, respect for elders, and cultural ethics. Understanding these similarities and differences allows students to apply ethical principles practically, contributing to peace, moral integrity, and social development in Liberia.
Practical Activity/Assignment:
• Prepare a two-column table showing Jesus’ and Muhammad’s moral teachings with examples of how each can be applied in Liberia.
• Write a short reflection on how Patriarchs’ or African Traditional Leaders’ guidance has influenced your family or community behavior.
• Create a role-play scenario demonstrating forgiveness or communal responsibility in a school or neighborhood context.
C – Consolidation (Conclusion & Assessment)
Time: 5–10 minutes
Summary:
• The teacher will ask students to recall:
– One key teaching from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.
– One similarity and difference between Jesus’ and Muhammad’s teachings.
– One comparison of Patriarchs’ versus African Traditional Leaders’ moral guidance.
Evaluation Method (Expanded):
• Exit slip/quiz: Students will write short answers to:
– Name one moral teaching from Jesus and one from Prophet Muhammad.
– Give one similarity and one difference between their teachings.
– Compare Patriarchs’ and African Traditional Leaders’ guidance in one sentence.
• Teacher will collect and quickly review for understanding.
• Provide oral feedback before class ends.
Assignment (Expanded):
Students will write a short essay on how studying moral teachings from various religious leaders can guide their daily behavior and contribute to societal harmony in Liberia.
Follow-up Activity:
In small groups, students will present examples of moral lessons from different leaders and discuss their application in community life.
